Saiba como é desenvolvida a linha solar da bjobj:

How a sun-care product is developed

Natural sun-care products, especially protection products, are the most difficult cosmetics to manufacture.
The bjobj SUN line was designed and tested for over a year with many laboratory tests that have led us to the current formulations.
We would like to share with all of you the history of this line and the tests carried out to guarantee its efficacy.
After various laboratory tests, we have noticed that, according to our experience, the best formula for a protective sun-care cream is a “Water in Oil” (W/O) emulsion, in other words different from a regular body cream, which is usually an “Oil in Water” (O/W) emulsion. Basically, the first one (water in oil) is a cream whose oily phase is external instead of internal; this means that, even when it comes in contact with water, the cream tends to stick to the skin.
Once we had identified the base and studied the combination of the active ingredients, we added pro-vitamin E (tocopheryl-acetate) at 1%, this strong anti-oxidant ensures that the oil in the emulsions does not oxidize in time.
Once the emulsions were created and all the stability tests carried out (with accelerated aging, temperature changes, etc.), we carried out an initial sun protection test, called a predictive test, for all products.
The predictive test is a restricted test, in other words a test carried out on a few volunteers, that provides a first indication on the protection that the cream is designed to offer.
Predictive tests were positive for all three protective creams.
It was then decided to continue with the other tests.
The following tests were carried out on all five references of the SOLE bjobj line:
  • PATCH TEST (DERMATOLOGICAL TEST ON VOLUNTEERS),
  • CHALLENGE TEST (PRODUCT SELF-PRESERVATION TEST).
Specifically, the following tests were carried out on the three sun-protection products:
  • SPF (DETERMINING SOLAR PROTECTION ACCORDING TO THE COLIPA METHOD ON VOLUNTEERS),
  • IN VITRO DETERMINATION OF PROTECTION AGAINST UVA RAYS AND OF THE “CRITICAL WAVELENGTH” VALUES OF SUN-CARE PRODUCTS (Guidelines March 2011).
All tests had a favorable outcome and proved that the products actually offered the stated protection.
The UVA protection turned out to be suited to the specified protection (one third of the UVB protection).
At the end of the protection tests, we then decided to carry out an addition test on the three products containing sun protection by simulating accelerated aging.
These tests, with experimental protocol, were used to evaluate the stability of the products to sunlight.
After accelerated aging of approximately one year, the products turned out to be stable when exposed to sunlight, and did not show significant changes in terms absorption of UV rays.
Of course, all tests carried out on volunteers were conducted according to the Statement of Helsinki, which establishes the ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects.
Moreover, for all production batches, as always for all bjobj products, we also carried the following tests out on the SUN line:
  • NICKEL TEST
  • MICROBIAL COUNT
All test results are available at our premises.
We believe that for such an important line of cosmetic products for our skin as the sun-care line, all tests carried out are the least that can be done in order to guarantee consumer safe, functional and effective products.
Of course, the final opinion always rests in the hands of those who actually use the products.
